Meet our cofounder, Kimberly Novosel! Read her story below and see how she got from PA to PMG. Of course, check back later to learn even more about our other amazing team members!
Kimberly Novosel’s career in the music industry started at sixteen, when she would travel to every country music show that came within a few hours of her Northwestern PA hometown and grill the tour managers and crew about their roles in the industry and how to get started. She made a home study of producers and songwriters, practiced creating press kits, poured over every issue of Country Weekly, and traveled to Nashville for Fan Fair (now CMA Fest) where she built relationships with people at CMT and other powerful industry organizations. By the time she enrolled in Belmont University’s Music Business program at 17, she was already beyond her peers in both experience and relationships.
During her time at Belmont, Kimberly participated in Service Corps, the school’s group of volunteers for industry events, through which she wrangled talent on red carpets for the ACM, CMA, and Grammy Awards as well as multiple industry radio remotes, and worked Country Radio Seminar each year. She completed internships with Schmidt Relations (Publicity for Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, Grand Ole Opry) and MGM (music supervision/music publishing for film). Lastly and possibly most importantly, as a student she managed singer/songwriter Phil Whitman; She booked his shows, coordinated the recording and release of his full-length album, developed his image, and designed marketing materials, among other tasks.
After graduating from Belmont in 2004 with a degree in Music Business and an Emphasis in Management, Kimberly went to work for Insight Management, where she oversaw tour promotions for major label artists including Sugarland, Josh Turner, and Billy Currington. This included working with radio stations to set up contests and appearances, coordinating with record labels, management and tour management, and pitching stories and setting up interviews with online and print media outlets.
Following her time at Insight, Kimberly made the move to image development. She put her passion for live entertainment and her talent and experience in marketing to work on shows like Nashville Star and the CMT Awards and music videos for Blake Shelton and Josh Turner. She coordinated photo shoots, developed artists’ images, and executed marketing strategies. Kimberly founded KMN Creative, the company under which she offered these services, and began gaining experience as a business owner and team leader while continuing to grow her large and valuable industry network. Through KMN Kimberly booked, organized, and promoted a 20 city tour across the country and served as tour manager, as well as went on the road in a social media marketing capacity for an opening act on the 2013 Rascal Flatts/The Band Perry tour.
In 2013, David Kiggins and Kimberly connected and began discussing and then planning a joint venture. With Kimberly’s experience in management and marketing/image development and David’s in media and business management, they felt that together they could offer artists a full-team service to launch their music careers, and manage those careers to great success. PMG was officially founded in 2014, where Kimberly serves as Artist Manager/Developer, and a team leader alongside Kiggins.
Expanding on her passions for music business, entrepreneurship, and development, Kimberly mentors interns in the Music Business program at Belmont University, writes a weekly entrepreneur column for 12th & Broad, and speaks and writes on goal setting and self-development at kimberlynovosel.com.
